  1. Recently you did an article about Eager Street and the butcher shop that was located in one of the houses. That butcher shop was my great-grandfather John Vanik Sr. not sure what dates, some time between 1910 and the 1920s . It was also a grocery store. When the Vaniks came here from Czech Republic in 1890. They brought their butcher knifes with them. They already had a trade . I was born and grew up on Port Street, Baltimore. The house was built in 1906. Every time I see my city it makes me sad but I’m glad some of it can be saved in other ways.
