Room with a View

Deconstruction
With the kitchen, partitions, staircase, and second story joists removed, a rowhouse essentially becomes one big rectangular room. The more we remove, the more room we have to work. In the photo below, Larry pries up plywood subfloor to expose the longleaf flooring underneath.

Gutting also offers another benefit: as the structure is stripped to the bare bones, light filters unencumbered through the room, giving us a better view of what we’re working with and allowing us to power down our generators.
